Cut open the hoagie roll along its length. Do not cut all the way through - just enough so you can fully open the roll.
Drizzle each side of the cut loaf with oil very lightly.
Add your cheese so that it covers the inside of the bread.
Add the meats on top of the cheese.
Add in the remaining ingredients in the order they are listed (make sure you add just a few drops of the vinegar), close the hoagie and cut in half. Enjoy immediately.
For the Italian Hoagie
Cut the roll length-wise almost entirely through so you can easily open it, but it stays together.
Lightly drizzle the bread with the oil on both sides.
Cover the bread with an even layer of the cheese.
Layer the meats over the cheese so it covers the cheese evenly.
Top with the lettuce, onion, peppers and pepperporcini.
Sprinkle the salt, pepper, and herbs over the toppings, then drizzle lightly with the red wine vinegar. Top with the sliced tomatoes to pack the toppings in.
Close the roll and cut in half. Enjoy!
