Soft, fluffy babka stuffed with swirls of chocolate cookie butter. This cookie butter chocolate babka is the bread we've all been craving in life.
I'll be honest with you, babka is one of those foods I absolutely love, but never make very often. I buy it all the time, but making it myself doesn't happen nearly as often as I'd like. It's a little crazy considering how much I love baking yeast bread at home.
When I picked up some chocolate swirled cookie butter over at Trader Joe's, however, it was impossible for me to not make this cookie butter chocolate babka. And I am so, so glad I did.
It's so secret that I love cookie butter. Not too long ago I was making cookie butter cookies and overnight cookie butter french toast bake. And I will never forget the cookie butter ice cream I made. I have dreams about it!
The combination of chocolate and cookie butter together is heavenly. When paired with fluffy and lightly sweetened bread, it is pretty magical.
How to Braid Babka
The best part of cookie butter chocolate babka is how beautiful the swirls are inside the loaf. You get those swirls by braiding the babka, which is incredibly easy to do. After spreading the filling over the rolled out dough, you roll it up the same way you do a cinnamon roll log. Then, cut the log in half all along the length of the log. Rest each half so the insides of the log halves are facing up. Make an X shape with them, then twist the top and bottom of the halves. That will give you swirls throughout your loaf when you cut into it.
How to Store Chocolate Babka
It is best if you store your cookie butter chocolate babka in an airtight container. It is at it's best when eaten fresh the day it is baked, but will last for up to three days. You can freeze your babka to extend its life. Simply thaw at room temperature for several hours.
